He instituted Smoot Hawley, the largest tariff increase in US history at the time, and raised taxes significantly. Coolidge did not even want to endorse him because of his &quot;years of daily unsolicited advice, all of it bad.&quot;

You should not group him with Harding and Coolidge, as it is simply false. Good or bad, Coolidge was a breed of his own.</description>
