"Welcome! I'm an Oxford History & Politics graduate looking to develop a career in political communications. I also work as a freelance web designer.
When I have spare time, I write about politics,
post-environmentalism, travel and art
With less than a week to go before embarking on their Europe-wide tour, the good people at the UK Youth Climate Coalition once again approached me looking for a website that could make an impact and deliver one some specific campaign goals.
The result was Push Europe, a website built using WordPress and the increasingly popular Buddypress set of plugins. With a striking electric green colour scheme and a impactful logo, the campaign was intended to make a break with the traditional environmentalist imagery.
In addition to providing functionality for regular news updates and static pages, the website came with a strong emphasis on social networking too. Using the Push Europe site, site visitors can register and fill in a ‘Green jobs CV’ outlining their skills, background and dreams for the low-carbon economy. As well as being able to connect with other users sharing similar skill sets across Europe, these CVs will be presented to EU leaders later this June, fulfilling a key campaiging objective of the project.
